Abstract: First I will introduce the basic ideas of light-front quantization. I will explain why light-front quantization provides a natural framework for describing the structure of relativistic bound states. Next I will introduce a nonperburbative approach to quantum field theory in the light-front Hamiltonian formalism, named Basis Light-front Quantization (BLFQ). I will show how BLFQ works through an application to the proton system. Starting from the QCD Lagrangian, I will demonstrate the procedure for calculating the observables characterizing the stucture of the proton, such as its form factors and parton distribution functions.
