Abstract: I will explain how to use a certain finite-N expansion to study AdS3 quantum gravity. In the duality between IIB string theory on AdS3 × S3 × M4 and Sym^N(M4), consider two protected sectors: the chiral-chiral partition function (1/2 BPS) and the polar part of the elliptic genus (1/4 BPS). The finite-N expansion allows one to rewrite the protected boundary counting as a sum over contributions from (AdS3xS3)/Z_k x M4 orbifolds. I will first review the chiral-chiral sector and then focus on the polar part of the elliptic genus. I will show that each polar microcanonical charge determines an integration contour whose crossed pole walls encode the (AdS3xS3)/Z_k x M4 orbifolds that contribute to that polar Fourier coefficient.
